It used to be so nice, and such fun. Now it seems that it has turned into what you say:- "a mini war", and that is a great pity. There were times on here when I used to be able to laugh so much, and after all, you come on to the site to relax. Not to get to the point, where you are so worried about getting the thumbs down for answering a question, you give it a miss. In case you get a violation. Or receive a vilolation for posting a question that a few, deem it inappropriate, and should have been posted, in another section.

It used to be a great site for learning things about people from The States, and other places. Unfortunately people have come in, be they trolls, or from other sites, who have insulted older members, who lack empathy, don't realise that Seniors can be any age from 50 years old to 90. Some are housebound, and desperately need some interaction with the outside world, and a goold old laugh. Not to mention, a written "helping hand" when they have a problem, or are feel like reaching out for some advise and to know, that even if we don't know each other, we do care for each other. Especially as you get to know the other people on the site.

Sadly, a few people have taken it upon themselves to be the self appointed watchdogs, making sure, that evey question is posted in the "correct" site, and not relaising, that this is a "Group", where we talk about all subjects. And insulting lovley older people who, God knows, have had their fair share of heart ache.

Giving thumbs down is not necessary, if you don't agree, just move on to the next question. Sorry it has got so vicious, because it was not necessary. Maybe it's time to move on, and stop wasiting ones time. And before I leave, not me either. Got 8 V's last week. Glad you posted this.

I generally don't give thumbs down to an answer, unless it is very obnoxious, silly or off the topic. People generally give thumbs down if they do not agree with the answer. I feel there should be some other way to express dissatisfaction or disagreement with the answer like a question mark or some such thing. It is good that you brought up this to the notice of all.

I know, it is like people just come through and do all these thmbs down. I only do a thumbs down if the person is being mean/rude/obnoxious/off topic/and so on....Yes there have been times I give a thumbs down for disagreeing but not a whole lot, usually only if I think the person has no clue what they are talking about and trying to answer something that way, just being ignorant. Otherwise, it is their opinion.

I do a lot of thumbs up's even if I don't answer a question, a lot more than I do thumbs down. Just for someone answering my question (without being a jerk of course) I like to give them thumbs ups but not everyone. Just like I went through here and gave a lot of thumb ups but I didn't give any thumb downs.

I think people give thumbs-up if they agree with the answer and thumbs-down if they don't.

Don't get too bothered by something you have no control over.

I care less about the thumbs ups and downs. I rarely give thumbs down, but I give thumbs up before I choose the best answer so they make atleast 11 points. lol.

I NEVER thumbs down people, we get enough bad news in the day. I try to give everyone a thumbs up for just trying to answer the question. If they leave a rude comment or some smart remark I just leave it. They do not deserve ANYTHING from me. I think people just get a kick out of giving thumbs down thinking it makes some kind of difference. I don't really know. Maybe they like being mean?

People give other people thumbs down either because they dont agree with there answer, they;re just doing it to be stupid, and they want their answer to win, or because they got a thumbs down and dont want to look bad, or they think you gave them a thumbs down, so they thumb you down too. But dont worry about it. It depeneds on whether the asker likes your answer or not. I got many of thumbs downs on answers before and i still got picked best answer.

I think that it's people who read the question but don't want to answer the question. They just thumbs up or down the answers.
