The Yankees are truly a team in disarray. They're badly disorganized and look flustered and overwhelmed by what the Red Sox, Indians and other teams have done to them.
They've just lost their best manager in franchise history and whatever all-star they had in A-Rod. Their rotation is filled with holes.
Meanwhile, Steinbrenner's health is quickly going downhill, and if heart problems don't get him, the stress of seeing the Red Sox win one World Series after another, might be enough to take its toll. That would leave ownership of the Bombers in question.
They seem to lack confidence, and their fans' morale is way down. Teams no longer seem intimidated by them ('07 Indians, '06 Tigers, '04 Sox, '03 Marlins, '02 Angels, '01 D-Backs, and the list goes on).
They seem to have taken on the role of perennial choke artists. Basically, if ballclubs were ships, the Yankees would either be Titanic or the Edmund Fitzgerald (take your pick).

Haha I go to BU and last night we all ran down to Kenmore (well as close as we could get, they had riot police all lined up blocking it all off) And there was this huge group of kids who work at a diner down the street wearing Jeter jerseys and yankees hats and the started walking down Brookline Ave shouting "Red Sox Suck!" And the whole mob I was in, chased them down passed Triology apartments and guys were throwing beer bottles and all kinds of random **** at them. It was hilarious!!
Seriously, being there in Boston was the greatest place to be to watch the world series. (even though the game wasn't there, the whole city went CRAZY). The sound of people screaming was deafening. And we were all just running around in the streets, kids were crowd surfing in the mob of people, somebody poured a keg of beer out of their apartment window and people were running through the waterfall of it. There were fireworks, cops everywhere, cars randomly driving in circles up and down comm ave honking their horns, every one was drunk, our classes were canceled today, there's a huge parade tomorrow and the T will be shut down-- all of it is just amazing!!!
And those ******* yankees kids actually had the nerve to walk down there like that and then turn there sorry asses back around in the other direction. I never saw a bunch of guys run so fast out of there. Haha that's right yankees, shut the **** up.

While I am a Red Sox fan, I still think you need to remember:
1) Casey Stengel is the greatest Yankee manager ever, NOT Joe Torre.
2) Ownership of the Yankees is NOT in question. Steinbrenner has kids and ownership of the team will fall directly to them.
3) Only a few players on the team were perennial choke artists, namely A-Rod.
Having said that, For the Yankees to be going through their longest World Series drought since the wonderful 1979-1995 years without a ring, all I can say is if they're true baseball fans, they'll HAVE to admit that we've been WAY overdue and now it's our turn at the wheel for a while. Simple as that.

Clearly, the Yankees have problems and Hank Steinbrenner's (George's son) strong response to A-Rod opting out was only an attempt to mask the problems in the Big Apple. The more angrier and stronger he tries to come off, the more vulnerable and frustrated they seem. The Red Sox have done a good job mixing it up with veteran leadership and raw young talent. I consider what the Red Sox are doing a Yankee money spending philosophy tweeked in a way that works because it is also extended with draft picks. I think Yankee fans will be irritated and angry (especially with the loss of Torre) until the Steinbrenner dictatorship puts in a brand name, big market player and coach. Choke artists? Well, they have made it to the playoffs in every season since the Torre era began so (being an A's fan) I just consider making the playoffs an accomplishment. I would reserve the term "choke artist" simply for A-Rod who consistently proves to the world of baseball that he is the best player when it doesn't really matter. Start strong...end weak...

LOL LOL LOL,,This yankee fan is far from having a heart attack.
1 Joe Torre gone? Big deal we haven't won anything in 7 yrs! he took the club as far as he could go with it (Zimmer really was the man that ran our team).
2 Brought in Joe Girardi,,Great move it's about time we have a manager who has fire in his belly,Some of our yankees need a good swift kick in their Prima Donna @sses,And Joe's just the guy to do it!
3 Arod gone? Another big deal!! this is his 3rd club he's been with and where's his ring? He's a cancer brings nothing but baggage where ever he goes! good LUCK!!
4 Stienbrenner's health,,OK yeah so? His sons are gonna do a far better job then he did! I don't see that as a problem,,It's been 7yrs,,It's about time we get a change!!
5 This yankee fans welcomes it!! We can't do any worse then these last 7 yrs!! Maybe that's what all you other people are worried about! That we can get better ,,deal with it!!

exactly what they are doing is what i expect to continue. They are firing everyone that has had any power in the past few years of no success. Arod will either get ALOT of money or go somewhere else, i think he will eventually make his way back into a yankee uniform. They fired torre, which was probably a bad decision, since he is one of the best managers available, and i dont think he was the problem at all. The Yankees are going to go out this offseason and sign at least two big name allstar pitchers. They are gonna get pitching no matter what. I hope they over pay and underperform again. The red sox are gonna own them every year regardless, cause they dont play for the paycheck. The stinbrenner kids arent doing well in their first decision making days. they are gonna kill what is left of the franchises credibility, and i think we are witnessing the downfall of one of the american empires. down with the empire and up with the Nation. GO RED SOX NATION!!

just because you won two titles in four years isnt a sudden dominance, did you see the rockies play. There were teams that played better than you all season, even with an older team the Yankees almost caught you in the divisional race. But the Sox have a redicuosly strong bullpen but Shilling "might" be back.

red sox fans are alot dumber than i thought.......you love and preach about everything you hate, when in fact thats what the red sox are. the sox missed the playoffs last year, spent big money on j.d drew, dice-k, and okajima, but its the yankees who buy players. the yanks cant buy a championship, when the sox have the second biggest payroll in baseball, the yanks havent won since 2000 when it took the sox 86 years to win in '04....you cry about the evil empire, when even when a "nation" wins the world series, everyone is focused on the yankees. you speak of the titanic, lets see how many holes the red sox bandwagon has when all your "fans" jump off it

All y'all Sox fans put down the Yanks for spending money. How did you win the Series? Spending alot of money. Sox are the new Yanks. And don't count us out yet. We've got a great new manager in Joe Girardi, three great young pitching prospects and a solid one/two punch at the top of the rotation with Wang and Petitte. You're goin' down next year.
