My sister has an Acer laptop. I seem to remember it was a bit involved.
There are two options. One restores the laptop from a hidden partition using a special disk that you make as soon as you get the laptop.
The other is longer. You have to turn off something in the BIOS. Make sure that it boots with the CD and then insert the first recovery CD. the program runs and then asks for any other CDs. Then it restarts and it's back to the way it was when you got it.
If your Acer has a D drive as well as C and E(CD) then your documents should be safe on D. Otherwise you will lose your documents.
Best to do a backup just in case. I used a passport drive but any external storage device can be used.

hi kannaa
your acer laptop should of come with a system recovery disk which will be in a thin blue dvd case marked "windows vista upgrade",which is a bit strange since its a recovery disk
simply insert this in your p.c,s dvd drive and follow the instructions as they appear on the splash screen
the acer recovery disk will basically recover you laptop to its "factory defaults" or in laymans terms, the way it was when you first took it out of the box
note:this recovery dvd will only work in your acer laptop,do not try to install it in any other laptops or p.c,s,if you do then vista will shut down after a few days due to the activation protection software in vista
also certain features will disable after a few days until the os becomes totally unusable
any problems let me know
good luck !

Acer laptops don't come with recovery disk but they come with a utility programme so you can make your own recovery disk.

There should be an option to boot from a different sector when you first start the computer. Try hitting the F keys.
