Frank Wren is officially on my bad list. He just got assigned to his new GM role and now he pulls this? What is he thinking!? Edgar Rentaria, thats crazy! Don't tell me he is putting Yunel Escobar as are starting second baseman? He is not ready for that yet.

All I got to say is John Shurholtz please come back? ( I know he didn't leave but I know that he wouldn't have made such a stupid decision.)

Ok Ok, I understand what ya'll are saying but I just don't see why they can't let Edgar stay for the rest of his one year left contract!

the only thing i can think of that the braves are doing is making some salary cap room, getting ready to make a big move, but i dont know and im pretty mad about it too cause renteria was hittin like .340 or somewhere around there before he got hurt. Like some of the others said we shoulda used renteria to get some pitchin cause thats what we need

Actually Yunel Escobar will be the starting SS and he is ready he played great while Edgar was on the DL.This helps the Braves get rid of some some money and go after a stating pitcher via trade or free agency. The Braves are getting younger and younger because they don't want to spend more money than they have too.

If they're even considering the A-Rod sweepstakes, I'm gonna be a bit upset. I think our prospects look good, and I'd make a little long term investment about now. Teixeira will continue to be good, and we're gonna have a lot of "Andruw $$$" to work with as well. Honestly, I was more upset about the Saltalamacchia deal than this one, overall.
Yunel will be fine, given a year or two to get used to starting. He may not hit .330 at first, but he's got the skills.

Thanks for the info -- I didn't know till I saw this.

Have a great night!

The "two stupid prospects" are:

- Jair Jurrjens, a highly rated starting pitcher who was 10-6 with a 3.52 ERA in 26 starts (split between Detroit and the minors) this year; and
- Gorkys Hernandez, an outfielder who hit .293 and stole 54 bases in A-ball this year.

Renteria, on the other hand, has only 1 year left on his contract. That looks like a pretty good return for a 1-year player rental.

I know!! What a stupid move by Wren. Although I admit that Escocar should start at SS, he proved himself last year. Either way, Renteria should have been bait for a big time pitcher already in the majors, like Dan Haren. Hopefully this will turn out like the last guy that came fom Detroit- none other than John Smoltz.

I totally agree with you. We want Shurholtz back!!!!!!!!

I must say that your ranting is unwarrented. Your team just picked up a guy who would have been a number 3 or 4 start this coming year. He's a guy who can pitch lights out down the stretch, which is an important quality. I just wish the Tigers gave you guys someone else for Rentaria.

Every team needs to re-build,,,, The Braves have not done that since.................the era of Smoltz, Glavine, Avery. Growing pains, thats all it is. They will be back on top in a couple yrs. Won't be pretty, but they will.
