on my State Auditions My sheet of paper has a note 4 lines above the leger line in treble clef. i know its a A flat. how do i play it on the Flute?

Why not look at your fingering chart .... or ask your teacher if you've lost that.

Is your note on the 4th leger-line (the 4th short line goes through the center of the note head) above the staff , 5th space or 5th leger line ? The 4th leger-line would be the G line so the printed note would have to be G# to be an Ab fingering. The 5th leger-space would be your A space and the 5th leger-line would be the B line.

If your note is really an Ab it is played like the regular Ab but without the thumb key or first finger (left hand) down. In other words raise the thumb and the first finger of the left hand. Left hand 2nd finger and 3rd finger down. Open the G#/Ab key (left little finger). Right hand little finger on the Eb/D# key.

If you decide that your printed note is not Ab please do an edit on your question so we can get the correct fingering.

Four lines above the ledger line in trebel is C / C flat (B), not A.
