How can you tell if you're smart? People tell me I'm really smart, but some of these people have higher test scores and GPAs. I just like to read a lot.

The smartest people in the world are only smart compared to other people.
The smartest people are the first to point out there flaws.
intelligent people tend to like spending their time with other intelligent people. Smart people spend their time with good people.

In order to know how smart you are you must firrst be able to define the term.Intelect is a very strechy word.When I was in high school in my psychology book there were three definitions of it so no one really know what it is.I often ask this question to myslef and the answer is definetly yes but I want to know exactly how smart I am.I am good at one things but not so much at others.IQ tests don't work for sure.You adapt to them and after 3-5 you start to get some very high scores.My first spiritual advisor told me that intelect is the capability to cop with situations.For instance you might not be the guy that studies the most but in the end you always pull trough somehow with better scores than your schoolmates'.Just because you read(I do a lot of that to) means you might have some more knowledge(it depends on what you read) and better verbal skills(again based on the literature).But I fail to see how this will help your creativity for instance.

if you disturb others with your thoughts; when you make others rethink of their positions, when you could think of ideas what others missed, when no one can answer your questions most of the time...then you're smart.

You can't really base your intelligence of test scores. I guess being intelligent is just to have good judgement and problem solving skills.

People are gifted and talented at different things.. You need to discover yours..Thats all...Amazon.com has a book Called "Discover Your God Given Gifts" by Don and Katie Fortune...
