Classic Rock, even though I'm only 20. Newer stuff is just depressive/noise/crap. The latest rock I like is 90s stuff like Oasis and some from about 2000/2001 like Blink-182 and stuff before all these stupid emo/greebo bands came out who seem to hate the world and want to top themselves. 80s is favourite, like Guns & Roses, Van Halen, Dire Straits, Magnum etc. (too many to name but the sort of rock that has some power to it). Then 70s like T Rex, ELO, Queen, Pink Floyd etc. and the 60s rock I like is stuff like the Beatles, Who, Rolling Stones - all legends. I bought a 50 quid DAB radio to take to work and I just play Planet Rock and The Arrow all day in the warehouse and the time flies by. Quality. :-D

Newer as in what? Because most of my library is from the 70's or 60's, and is rock, but isn't what most call "classic" rock. Although I'd call it classic. I prefer classic punk from the late 70's and some of the post-punk and hardcore-ish bands that followed soon after followed closely by the 60's garage and psychedelic bands who were, in my opinion, rock 'n' roll in spades. You don't get much closer to the essence of rock 'n' roll than four kids, some guitars, a drum set, a mic, and a lot of loud noise and attitude. Fabulous stuff.

Classic Rock {60's & 70's} and some 80's Rock, despite my being born in 1982.

There are only a handful of bands from the last 17 years that I like, and only 2 or 3 of them are 'Rock'.

I think every generation probably prefers the stuff they grew up on and thinks most of the new stuff is c rap.

That's because most music is made by people in their early 20's, designed for an age range of 15-25. Once you hit 30, most of the lyrics cease having a lot of relevance.

Plus when you're young, certain songs and bands have significance not because of how great the music is (necessarily) but of what was happening in your life at the time. As you get older, new stuff just doesn't hit you the same as much.

In answer to your actual question, I much prefer stuff like AC/DC or Van Halen (the original version) to Korn or Linkin Park. No comparison in my mind.

Mm...I like newer music...and it's probably because I didn't grow up in the classic rock era. I can listen to Metallica all day, and maybe some Alice In Chains and a couple others. Other then that, I'm all for the new stuff, better voices.

Haha that's an understatement, not all of the new bands these days sing about cutting themselves. Actually I've never listened to one band that did.

I like anything that's good. And there is always good rock out there being played by somebody. I tend to like the older stuff because it has more of a groove. The newer stuff tends to be so fast and manic that there is no room for a groove. No one likes to kick out the jams more than I do, but you need some contrast in there also, light and shadow. But I definitely need a groove.

I'm sixteen and i prefer older stuff, i'm a "Ledhead" as you can guess by my name.

But some of you don't have a clue about new music. Linkin Park? Korn? What the frig is that all about?

Listen to:
The Libertines
Babyshambles
Arctic Monkeys
Maximo Park
Kasabian
Klaxons
Reverend & The Makers
etc' etc'

You'll find respect for the new music and still love the legends of yesteryear at the same time.

I like a lot of the classic stuff like Led Zeppelin, Boston, Queen, Pink Floyd, and stuff like that.

I like some newer stuff like The Exies, Incubus, and the Queens of the Stone Age

Overall, classics win.

Until Punk can be considered classic rock, I like newer stuff.

But I have been known to throw down some classic tunes.
