Not the same thing.
There are many "types" of poker including Omaha Hi, Omaha Hi-Low, 5 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Draw, and Texas Hold Em to mention a few. There are even different types of Texas Hold Em such as Pot Limit and No Limit.

Your sister is right. It is a type of poker, there are many. I know because I play it for fun, my son and others play for money and they usually win. There is a technique to it all. Find a book about poker at the library and then you will see that you sister is right. Perhaps, you may even be surprised at just how many assorted types of Poker that there are.
