nothing. You just have to set firefox as your standard browser (which it does automatically anyways when you load it the first time),otherwise applications which use the internet browser will not work correctly.

These days it's very rare to find a website that won't work in Firefox. I use Linux, so I don't have Internet Explorer at all, and I have no trouble using Firefox for everything. If you do occasionally run into a site that wants IE, install a Firefox plugin called User Agent Switcher. It will make Firefox tell those sites that it is IE, and sometimes that will get you through.

As others have said, it's hard to actually uninstall IE, because it's integrated into Windows and will break some Windows functionality, like updates, if it is removed. Just stop using it.

Another user switches to Firefox.Great. Whether IE actually uninstalls is another question entirely. There are occasions when sites will not work unless IE is used. However just use the Firefox extension IE Tab which allows you to access them from Firefox. Unhappy as some apparently are with Firefox tabs then Tabbrowser Preferences might help.

Internet Explorer is still needed for a few web sites. In XP it is needed for system updates. It it also very integrated into the system. Just don't use it and change the default browser to Firefox like I do. Firefox has an addon that will switch to IE in a new tab when needed.

Your computer will explode!!!

Jk...but you don't need to uninstall internet explorer to use firefox as your main browser. I have both, because I like using internet explorer for just doing regular stuff (the tabs are easier to use and such) - and I use firefox for when I am making layouts for my yuniti account because it has a special thing built in to tell you the 'classes' for CSS.

I recommend keeping both :) Just for convenience, even if you prefer one over the other. They both have their benefits.

You can't uninstall internet explorer, it is an integral part of the Windows operating system.

However, you can just not use IE and use Firefox instead. I do.

You can't uninstall it. Microsoft have just been sued the biggest amount in history as IE is so integrated into the operating system and gives an unfair advantage over Firefox etc. Just use Firefox as your default and don't use IE.

You can't completely uninstall IE, the code is used in all sorts of windows functions, and some program updaters need it (windows update, symantec,....) Also some web sites need IE to function (GE Capital bank for example) Anything that need ActiveX has to run in IE.
Best thing is to leave IE in place, Install and use Firefox most of the time but have IE for when you need it.

Good luck!

ehh nothing. but there have been times where i've needed to run internet explorer because the programs online weren't compatible with firefox.
in that case, i wouldn't recommend uninstalling it, you never know when you might need it.

I have both but rarely use IE it's generally rubbish but there are times you will need it, but rarely, You can have both on the Google! toolbar. It doesn't take up any space on your PC.
But you can dump it if you like with no ill effects. Actually I find it's a lot quicker to use IE to delete my browsing history etc, it's more straight forward but that is the only thing it has going for it.

Cheers.
