They're both spoooky?
Kind of weird turning trick or treating into a study on racial inequality isn't it?
I am white.
I don't have trick or treaters in my neck of the woods because everyone is scattered so far apart.
And here in the country people still get kind of rowdy on halloween- cutting trees across roads and lighting stuff on fire. Hopefully no one will do anything that stupid this year but it has been known to happen out here.

The story isn't about politics...it's about safety of neighborhoods. They mention liberals and conservatives, but that's not the focus of the story. The focus is that some people live in neighborhoods where it's not safe to send the kids out to trick or treat.

I don't really know if this should really be considered a political issue. Rather, it's more of a social one, since it illustrates the income level and safety concerns of minorities.

Specifically, that minorities are more likely to live in neighborhoods that they do not feel are safe enough to allow their children to trick-or-treat for Halloween.

There are a lot of Iraqis who are haunted by the ghosts of loved ones that have been killed in bush's unnecessary war. This will be the fifth Halloween in a row that they've had nothing but tricks and no treats.
