From what I've read, a four-leaf clover naturally occurs in one out of about 10,000 clover leaves. The way to look for them is to relax your eyes and gaze at an area about 1 foot square at a time, trying to minimize your depth perception. Eventually, you'll notice something square (4 leaf clover) among a sea of triangles (3 leaf clovers). If you find one, you'll probably find more. Because they are the product of a genetic defect in the clover plant, there is a good chance there will be more than one on a given plant.
Even more rare are 5- and 6-leaf clovers. 7-leaf clovers have also been found.

Paul in San Diego has a very good answer. It is a matter of training your eyes to see the squares in the triangles and not the four leaves in the three leaves. This is how I see them and I see them all the time. And if you find one keep looking because there is usually more in that area.I have also been in lawns that have a lot of clover and couldn't find any.It is best to look for them where the grass hasn't been mowed in a while the four leaves grow a little faster than the three leaves and many are just a bit taller then the three leaves.I think I have 10 or more in a book some where I would send you one but it is bad luck to give one to someone else.Oh and I do have 5,6and7 leaf clovers but have never found an 8 leaf.

Some plants have 4 leaf clovers. You can often buy them at nurseries. If you are looking at a plant that has 3 leaf clovers, then, yes, the 4 leaf clovers are rare, if they even exist.

Actually, they aren't that difficult to find. Most people look for a minute then give up, but if you actually look intently you can probably find one in a full patch in no more than 3 minutes.
I've found like 10 in the past 6 or 7 years, and I rarely look.
Just keep looking. And don't wear nice jeans. Grass stains suck.
Good luck finding your good luck = )

It all depends where you are looking, if you look in a big patch you may find one but if you look at little patches you may not find any. That is from my expeirience. So the conclusion to my answer is: it depends where you look.

Yes, I know, because I've looked. I only found one once. Sorry to say, my luck didn't change, because a leprechaun robbed me at gunpoint for it.
