About all the things I have been through and more importantly all the things I have overcome. Society seems to always be on the move, never really having a moment to breath. So when ever there is a free second I grab it. Staring at the light or gazing into an off TV.

I do not do it just for nothing. I agree with Disco Daddy though not the light treatment he has givento the exercise. Yes,exercise it is, a yogic exercise.I stare at it unblinkingly trying to concentrate on it to the exclusion of everything about me including myself.Of course I cannot do it for long all the times. However, my experience is that if I can do it for some time it brings a strange calmness over me sometimes. It is really a unique experience which it is difficult to paraphrase in words. It is a momentary feeling bu a feeling that you are in tue with the world-in fact you are the world. On the practical side the exer cise helps me to take on the world with confidence and equanimity.

It could be the light is just comforting to him and it allows his mind to ponder things. When my daughter was a baby, she loved to look at the chandelier with the lights on, it soothed her. Now we have a little deaf cat that came from a stray we took in. She's a bit wild, but I can hold her in my arms like a baby under a light and she just gets this peaceful look on her face and will just lay there and stare.

It's sort of like looking for the light at the end of the tunnel I guess. I don't realize that I am starring until someone says something to me.

I think about the old days, the days of lots of laughter, fun, friends, health, and no responsibilites. Days when money wasn't tight, neither were my dresses, when my hair was dark brown and not salt and pepper, when my boobs didn;t hit my knees, when everything was where it was supposed to be,instead of going south and not just for the winter.

I love the Pink Floyd reference...
My husband stares off sometimes too. I think it is the art of I have drowned you out when you are nagging...either that or he can sleep with his eyes open, since I have seen the same stare at church.
