When I was growing up my mother would always let the phone ring twice before picking it up. I don't know why but i now find my self doing that. Is that true for anybody else? Star me!

nope.
I pick up the phone when I'm good and ready,
and not a moment before or after.
but when I pick it up, I pick it up with my feet ...

My parents always does the same thing, so do I most of the time, unless I see on Caller Id it's someone I don't feel like hearing they're crap, then I let the good ol' answering machine get it. If they're lucky, I may return the call 2 days later, lol

I have special ring songs for all my important people. After that I let the machine answer the phone.

Nah, but I'd never pick up the phone in the middle of a "ring". Don't know why.

i let it ring about 3 or 4 times before i answer, but i don't do it on purpose i'm just too lazy to get up.

Well i usually pick up after the second ring anyways because i have to go "Oh who the crap is that." and look at the Caller ID.

At home I leave it until they speak to the answerphone.
On the mobile I don't answer if the number is unknown, and again let them talk to the answer service, if I know the number I answer straight away

no i let mine ring until i get it. Maybe it's good luck, a family thing that's naturally been pasted down, or a memory of ur parents..

I answer the phone after I've screened the call and I know who it is and if I want to talk to them.
