If I were you I would go to Spain for sure. this past summer I visited Madrid and Seville, Spain, and had a blast there. In Seville there is a hostel called Hostal Alameda, and the price and location is great, and in Madrid there are plenty hostels that are cheap and located near the heart of the city as well. I would also try and go to Paris if you have never been, and stay at a hostel too, and you can stop in Germany or Belgium (do try to go to Brussels!) on your way back to Ireland. There are plenty of cheap flights, but the train isn't so bad either. Have fun! If you want to try and visit the US, try and visit it during the summer, it's pretty hot, especially in the south, but the flight prices go down critically.

You're not Irish if you're using the word 'vacation'.

If you want to work, you're much better off staying in the same place. It can be a long commute .... you could make weekend trips, but summer jobs in Europe don't pay big money.

Language could be a problem, unless you end up in a tourist resort. You probably could get a job in one of the many Irish pubs around Europe, but the hours are not the best and the pay can be a bit dodgy. Also some employers don't really bother with such trivialities as health insurance or benefits for summer employees, so you need to check this out.

Once you have your primary degree, do a postgrad TEFL course and you'll have no problem getting work anywhere in Europe or Asia.

Cyprus!
Have lived here for four years now, and its a wonderful place for you to visit. Our Summer season usually gets started at the beginning of April so start searching for jobs as soon as possible. Wages aren't very high here, so don't expect too much, but then, its fairly cheap to live here. You could work your way along from Paphos, to Limassol, Larnaca, Agia Napa, and finish up in Protaras.
Have a look at www.cyprus-mail.com
This is mainky aimed at ex-pats, but you might be able to find some jobs advertised on this site!

san antonio Ibiza would be up you and your friends street, but if you want to travel and see a bit of the world get a job on a cruise ship at least you get to see a lot of places without unpacking.
