I like both of these names but they both sound more suitable for older children or adults... How could I "baby-fy" the names? (like Tobias to "Toby" or "Corbin" to "Corby"...) Actually, other ways that the name could be expanded even for an adult are welcome. Feel free to be creative. Any serious response is appreciated! Thank you!

(They're both boy names, by the way)

Thank you to those of you who are commenting on the creativity and originality of the names... That's what I was going for -- nothing "en vogue" like all the Aidens and Jadens... and nothing blah... Also, meaning is VERY important to me - Zade is of Arabic origin and means "one who progresses and causes others to progress"; Paxton is of German/English orgin and means "peaceful' or "town of peace"

Well ... I think when parents choose one-syllable names, they live with the fact that their kids won't have a built-in nickname. In fact, plenty of parents opt for Cade, Rhys, Joel and the like so they *won't* have nicknames.

Odds are that you'll call your kid something else anyway - Champ or Fuzzy or Slugger or Bug. Something you can't plan for, and will later be a source of potential humiliation if revealed to his friends. :)

We call our son Budgie - because when he's mad, he looks a bit like an angry bird, all puffed up and sulky. I expect that "Mom, don't call me that" will be ringing out around our house any day now.

Zade and Paxton are not my style, but they're interesting choices. I'd use them and be confident that your little guy will earn his own nickname.

Pax is very cool, in my opinion.

With Zade, I think Z is the only real option. Very simple and catchy.

Intriquing names....
I have heard of Zada but never Zade

As far as nicknames... I think their personalities will be the driving force for this.
Z and Pax would be the only shortened versions of their names available
