When I was really young I used to love to go get new saddle shoes just so I could walk over to the x-ray machine and see my toes wiggle inside my new shoes! That's how they used to see if the shoe fit, so I could wear it!

I went to Nadeaus' childrens shoe store all the years I was growing up toward my teens, and wore the Buster Brown shoe brand.
No other would do for my mom. She liked that the salesmen fit our feet well and there was no mistaking the correct she size. So I grew up with lace ups. And a buckled pair for dress up. I also took our children to that same store.
They still had the same brands and Buster Brown was their
top seller. When I was young I also climbed up to the exray machine. As did our kids when they were small. The store still had excellent salesmen who always pressed to see where the big toe reached at the top of the shoes they were trying on. So that there would be room for the toes to move and maybe grow a bit, before they had to get larger shoes. Didn't that screen we looked at have a green cast to our exrays? I seem to remember seeing my bones in a sea of green LOL.

Oh wow... what a trip down memory lane. I forgot all about Buster Brown shoes. Mr and Mrs Fagori ran the shoe store and it was always a special thing to go there. You were treated like you were a young adult and just pampered you so much. Then it would be like you said the x-ray machine to check out the toes. And always a lollipop afterwards... Thank you for the memory.

Yes, I remember going to the store in Huntington Park, CA and using their x-ray machine. I wonder when they outlawed that. My sons wore Buster Brown shoes. I have been wondering where I could find some of the anklet socks. Newberry's used to sell them but I havn't seen them around for a long time.

I remember Buster Brown shoes. We got a new pair every school year. I have heard about the x-ray machine, but I never saw it. Bet that was fun though!

Yep! Only once! lol I do not remember the x-ray machine but, I remember my Mom pulling my hair to get me to shut up crying! I hated those oxfords! I did not want them and she made me wear them anyway! Geesh! Made me have a distaste for old Buster Brown, in a big way!

I am now 52, and I still hate those shoes! lol

My mother was really into feet and shoes fitting properly.
We always went to Buster Brown and got those ugly brown oxfords for school. She never let us wear saddle shoes, because she thought the white part got too dirty. We always got our feet measured for length and width. Then we'd go to the Xray machine and see our bones in the shoes. If we did that now, and I was in school these days, I'd be laughed out of existence in those oxfords.

Yes. I wore shoes from Buster Brown. Mom said that they were good for my feet. I remember standing against the machine with my feet in the bottom. It was cool!

Yep, the old Buster Brown ploy. We used to watch people use the machine then make comments about too bad you couldn't see the way their feet smelled so bad too. And we would do it in front of them, until my Dad would smack us right there in public!
