"Depends"
Here in Ontario, regular unleaded can contain up to 10% ethanol. mid-grade can contain up to 5% ethanol. super unleaded contains 0% ethanol.
Given that ethanol doesn't produce as much power as gasoline, super unleaded gives you more "bang for your buck."
Also, some premium brands contain more/better detergents than regular, helping keep your engine clean.

i dont believe it is the same as it used to be.. with computerized fuel management and engine management, as well as better quality control on manufacture, engines are designed to run on lower octane fuel efficiently. In some brands, there were additives that might do something helpful for your car, but unless your car specifically calls for a higher octane, there is no real advantage using higher octane.

all fuel is equal. The octane rating is the anti - knock level. High compression requires higher octane. Use the lowest octane your vehicle can run on without "pinging"

Depends on your engine, if you have a higher class engine with alot of things into it it recommends that you put a higher grade. But if you just own a simple four banger then its not much difference.

depends on the compression ratio. the higher your compression ratio, the higher octane you should use. Although gas will get lower in octane the longer it sits unused, if it is not sealed in a metal container
