I would go to muffler / exhaust shop and get the cat converter looked at.

The trans. could be slipping, but the torque converter could be burning out. Is there a strong burned smell to the trans. fluid? Is it getting dark? How long since you had the trans. serviced (flushed and filled)? If it has never been done and is high mileage, than you may not want to service it. Take it to the shop and tell them. Some people think that after a certain time, you shouldn't disturb it.
