Considering he is in Iraq, I'm guessing he's military. Thinking about the conditions there and the space they have with moving about. I would suggest a very personal, light weight item. Something you can either create yourself, a portrait of you with a poem you wrote, if not poetry a personal letter (not the ones you write regularly, something really special). Consider including a small package of things he can really use along with a few special treats that he misses. I would not suggest sending an expensive gift. If he frequently has some down time to himself however you might consider an Ipod with his favorite music already downloaded, some pictures, and even some of his favorite television programs, ready for him to use.

Hi Bridgett,

Since he is in Iraq why don't you do something personal for him. Take a bunch of pictures of you and of both of you together and of things that he enjoys at home and put together a nice photo album that you can send him. Kind of do it like scrapbooking; write something next to each picture, especially on the ones of both of you. Maybe write a little note of what you remember that day.

Then fill up the box with a bunch of his favorite things....like candy, gum, etc. Maybe make him a tape/cd of his favorite music.

Hope this helps!! And please tell him Thank you from me for the awesome thing he is doing for all of us and our country!!

I would make him a DVD of you, and some of his friends and families with special messages about how you love him and are thinking about him. Send that along with a small photo album he can carry around. Simple, lightweight, and straight from the heart.
God Bless you both for the sacrifices you are making for our country.
