I'm sure there's a lot of inappropriate responses anyone on here can give to you.
Make him something. Put a little time, effort, and creativeness into it. It'll mean more to him. People can buy anything, but making something unique is different.

Think a bit about the last nine months.
Surely, somewhere along the line, he said something that you could turn into an incredible gift.
Whatever it is, it isn't in anyone's suggestion today. It's from your boyfriend.
Let's just say you were out one night and he mentioned his favorite movie. Get him the DVD and a poster (try amazon).
Years ago I dated a woman and I mentioned off-hand one night about how bored I get in hotel rooms (I travel a lot for business, so I spend 100+ nights away a year).
One day I checked into a hotel in LA and there was a package waiting for me. Inside, a book of puzzles, a rubiks cube, a deck of cards, and a booklet of movie theater passes.
Now that's a gift you don't forget.
She could have bought me a plasma tv for christmas and it wouldn't have meant as much.
The perfect gift says, "I know you. I listen to you. I get you."
Now.....find such a gift.

Okay so, I got an iPod for my honey one year, and some Polo Blue, my favorite colone, For our first Chirstmas.
This year, maybe and iPhone, or a new Hunting Bow, if I can afford it. What does he like? Is he really into his car/truck? He likes fishing, Some of his firehouse buddies, told me which tackle box he'd been eyeing. Or new fishing gear. Gift Cert to Academy? Movies and CDs are good too but thats more of an "us" gift because movies are something you do together usually.
Oh and he loved the PS2 I got him for his Bday this year... (the 3 was too expensive) and he LOVED it, I never would have guessed. I let him pick out the games though, and he was just like a 10 year old... he's 30!
Keep an eye on him until December- maybe he'll let something slip and give you an idea.
Take his truck out for a detail or do it yourself, God knows we ALL love that.
That blacket the girl mentioned, I made for my honey recently to take to the firestation, he loved it too. It was camo on one side orange on the other...
If you don't know how to make them, out of fleece, and you were thinking about it, email me, and I'll help you. It only took me 3 days. No sewing. :) kledesma@mac.com

I wouldn't spend a ton, but you gotta think about what he's into. You don't have to buy one gift either. One Christmas, I recieved a box with all kinds of stuff in it. There were a couple DVD's, some candy (my favorite kind of course) wool socks, some calogne....things that I liked, but nothing really expensive. I thought it was a very thoughtful gift, as she knew I would enjoy these things.

Suprise him with a weekend getaway between Christmas and New Years at a little bed & breakfast. Get yourself a red satin nighty, him a sexy robe, go out to dinner, share a bottle of wine and enjoy your company together!

Try to get something for him that goes along with what his interests are. For instance, if he fishes, get him a tacklebox. If he plays sports, get him a subscription to one of his favorite sport magazines. And get a nice, romantic Christmas card for him. Merry Christmas!!!
Good luck and may God bless you.

depends on how much money you want to spend.. how close you are to him... whether you think the relationship has legs... to last the distance...?
remember though.. it doesn't have to be expensive... sometimes the most thoughtful gifts are the ones that don't cost an arm and a leg.. .and are the ones which the person really really wants.
if in doubt... ask him..
