Apollo 11 was launched from Cape Canaveral (Then Cape Kennedy), in July 1969. Edwin "buzz" Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the first to touch down on the moon, with Neil taking the first literal step on the surface of the moon.

Apollo 11 launched on July 16th, 1969, and they landed on the moon on July 20th. They splashed down on July 24th, then had to spend several weeks in a trailer, where they were watched closely to make sure they didn't bring back any diseases from the moon.

Neil Armstrong was the first to walk on the moon, followed minutes later by Buzz Aldrin. They landed on a flat expanse of solidified lava called Mare Tranquilitatis ( the Sea of Tranquility). The landing occured on July 20, 1969. If you check the nasa website, or just do a google search, I am sure you can find the date of the blast off.

They blasted off from the Kennedy Space center at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
