The Yankees simply said, "opt out of your contract, bye bye!" Do you think the rest of the teams might just say, "no player is worth that much; and simply not make an offer?

It would be great but I dont see that happening. I also dont see a team paying 30 mill for 1 player besides the Yankees. I think when all is said and done the Yankees and Arod will kiss and make up and he will have a 9 year 280 million deal from NY

He will get offers - though I do think it's likely he won't get the offers he's looking for. He apparently refused the Yankees' offer of a 5-year extension at $25-30M/year; with what was left on his contract, that means he's probably looking for, at minimum, 8 years/$225M. That's a risky contract to give to any player, and more so for A-Rod because infielders in general show more deterioration of skills once they hit their mid-30s.

You can bet that A-Rod knew his options and what would be available to him if he opted out of his Yankee contract. Offers are always there for the elite players in the game.

He porbably all ready has an offer. Even though other teams were not supposed to be talking to him. No player is worth 30 Million. He really should get a pay cut , in a way I hope a pay cut happens but I doubt it.....

it is a lot of money that he's askin for, but him being one, if not the best player in the league; somebody will pay him. personally i think itll be the cubs. they'll have 12 million if they let zambrano go, and will be able to offer him 28-30 million Pro Rated, depending on incentives.

Only a few teams can even afford him. A few of those ones probably feel he is over paid. I bet there is only 2 or 3 teams that want him and can afford him.

Good question, I was wondering the same thing. Be funny if he gets a pay cut.

it would be hysterical if it did happen but there are already about four teams rumored to be interested in Payrod.

It would be great, but Steinbrenner proved that owners aren't that bright, either.
