The Breathing Method from Different Seasons, actually all four stories (The Shawshank Redemption, Apt Pupil and The Body [Stand By Me]) rocked but The Breathing Method was quite a UNIQUE story.

Jas - my favorite Stephen King short story is "Blind Willie" from the book "Hearts in Atlantis." Every time I read it, I just cry my eyes out.
I also like "The Body," from the book "Different Seasons" which was made into the movie "Stand by Me."

I really loved a particular short story of his ( I'm a huge fan!) about a woman who loved to drive her little sports car VERY fast and was always looking for the shortest distance between two points. She took the caretaker on one of her rides and they went thru a forrest that looked like nothing that should exist and eventually she was gone and the guy had her car in the end. I think it's called "The Shortcut" but that doesn't really sound right. If anyone knows the name, please let me know!

I love The Road Virus Heads North from Everything's Eventual and Jerusalem's Lot from Night Shift. 1408 is awesome too, also from Everything's Eventual. As for best I would have to go with Jerusalem's Lot.

"Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" was a powerful movie but an even more powerful short story. Great Tale.
