My girlfriend gets annoyed by that, but it doesn't really bother me! To stop it though, head to:

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds (Tab) > Scroll the "Program events" box down until you get to "Start Navigation" & just change the 'sound' to "None". Hit "Apply" and you're done!

Near the top click on Tools and then select Internet Options from the drop down menu and then click on the Advanced tab.

NOTE: If the tool bar with "File; Edit; View; Favorites; Tools; and Help" don't appear just under the Web Address go to the right hand side of the screen and click on the Gear Icon (Tools) drop down arrow and click once on "Menu Bar". This will place the Menu Bar into IE7. To remove it simply click on "Menu Bar" again to delete them.

Scroll down to the Multimedia section in the list and click the check box to deselect "Play Sounds In Webpages".

Click on Apply and then on Ok to save the changes.

This should resolve your headache.
