I used to see this played on Friday and Saturday nights once in a while in the 70's.
Anyone know where to find it in DVD format?

When they do appear, they ARE crawling brains with spine tails! The stop-motion creepy crawlers are SO eerie! This one counts as a cult film IF you can find it to watch. Here are a couple of sites showing pictures and with more detail:

By the way: "The TIngler" is a FANTASTIC movie, too! Have you seen it?

Now I'm trying to remember...there was an old film called The Tingler (Black and white), that had some sort of thing that crawled about, lots of legs and everything. About the size of a persons head maybe.
Did the one you saw get into a darkened cinema at one point? Drop down from the roof? If so that might be it.

Had a look on IMDB?
You might find it.

(Hey mystmoonstruck(below here), I haven't seen the Tingler in years...and did you ever see the original film of 'The Haunting', really scary. Sorry, off topic...)
