Unfortunately, most Americans do not consider Iraqis as people. We see them as terrorists or victims, not as everyday people with the same values as our friends, neighbors and relatives. Yet, most Iraqis are decent human beings with the same concerns, dreams, and compassion as most Americans. They want peace and are concerned about their fellow man.
They have raised money and donated it to victims of the Cal. fire.

Tokoloshemani--that was one of our problems for sure but it wasn't Bush and the invasion that did it, the infrastructure over there was virtually non existent.

I fail to understand this myself. Especially with the news of neighborhood revivals that I've seen lately. Even -if- going in was wrong, how is pulling out now the right solution?

Sure, this is true. But all you need do is ask someone who's son or brother or husband is never coming home again, and you will get a good answer as to how anyone could "turn their backs" on the Iraqi people!
We can only help so much....when are the "good" Iraqi people (the ones that you mention) going to get sick of the violence in their own country and take matters into their own hands. You can compare it to immigration. There are roughly 12 million illegals here from Mexico because their country does not provide the opportunity they find here. What could those 12 million do to improve the situation in Mexico? That is a massive number of people! When will the average Iraqi citizen stand up and say "We will not stand for this any longer" and actually do something proactive to fix the problem. Civil unrest is not necessarily a bad thing!!! Instead we've seen corruption in the Iraqi police forces, great way to improve the situation.
Everyones so concerned about a civil war if we leave Iraq.......has everyone forgotten that even the US had to go through a civil war to become what we are today? Freedoms are much more valued and appreciated when fought for yourself, instead of others fighting for you!
It's not that hard to consider!

Because when considering whether or not to endorse the war and the efforts of the military, too many people only see the people making the decisions. They do not think about the soldiers on the ground or the people whose life is in upheaval due in part to our going in in the first place. They look at the top and see President Bush and Vice President Cheney and the military commanders all of whom they have no respect for and make their decisions based on that. If they would realize the reasons for doing what we're doing now (not money or politics), and that we're trying to fix a mess we made, then they might understand us having to be there longer. But they only see whose in charge and do not agree with them, so they forget about looking at future repercussions of our actions today.

Just wait for the next trick. Slowly remove the military to make the American people happy and then drive in the private militia contractors to take over thus costing American tax payers billions more dollars. Don't be fooled. This will happen and both parties are all for it since everyone knows you just don't make a mess in someones house and then leave. That would make the USA look really really bad.
We need a leader and a Congress that can cut through all the global and US corporate money making to find an honest territory. I doubt with the widespread global corruption that this can be achieved without totally removing our existing political base that is overwhelming the few honest and respected elected officials.
Vote Ron Paul. He is the only person willing to defend our constitution and make decisions based on the law.

It really boggles the mind, doesn't it? As long as a Republican gets back into office I don't think we have to worry about turning our backs on them... It's really sad that the Dems are so "hate Bush" and politically motivated that they don't want us to finish the job and make sure Iraq is a secure country. It's a shame, but success for the Iraqi people means failure for the Libbies.

Good point.
Most ordinary people, of whatever religion, race, etc., want exactly the same things. A nice comfortable house and a good job, a good education for their kids, and security.
But, ......
.......after Bush and his cronies knowingly destroyed what little infrastructure there was in Iraq under Saddam, the US has no option but to rebuild. And some US companies (with connections to Bush and cronies) are making a killing.
Something fishy here, or what?

Your answer:
Libs will turn their back on all people. Look at how they have turned their back on our brave men and women in the military. It's truly amazing how stupid these people are...
No, it's truly amazing how stupid YOU are...

I don't want to turn my back on those that need help. But how do you know who is going to hurt you and yours? Out military is having a hard time there because there is no easy way to distinguish a friend from a foe. If the people over there were to come together and help our military find the terrorists and insurgents, then I would say that they want peace. Until that happens, I don't look at them as friends. They are aiding people that want to hurt us. I have a hard time forgetting that.

They are killing each other, Sunni and Shiia have been at it for six hundred years, they may be like us, they may have the same values, but they have a strange way of going about it.
Its nice they have raised money for the victims of the fires, but maybe it should go to the people of the country who freed them from Saddam, maybe it should go into the worn out treasury of the country that laid down the lives of their sons and daughters so they could have freedom, even if its just the freedom to kill each other.

Most Republicans I have spoken to, and ALL that I know, have NEVER turned their backs on the Iraqi people, and especially NOT on an American soldier.
As to Democrats and Liberals, well, they never faced the Iraqi People in the first place, so they can't turn their backs on them. They can only remain staring off in La La Land, fantasizing about Hellary, and her "(not) so free" health-care plans for them.
