I am anxious to see how many variations of the old, "I support the (fill in name of sport franchise) but that dooesn't mean I can play," arguement(s) I recieve. And yes, I am a veteren of both the 1st Gulf War and the Panama campaign.

###My question was meant as a challenge to chickenhawks....of which there are many who recklessly attack veterens who oppose of this SPECIFIC war.

***Long Duck Douchebag: Don't question my service like your god Rush Limbaugh, did. I never claimed that the military was not politically Conservative. I am simply attempting to vet out what I consider to be the cowardice of chickenhawks in the Republican party....Comprende' nitwit?

I support the troops and the mission. (I just wish they didn't have to fight with one arm behind their backs and every fire fight challenged on CNN). I have sent multiple packages overseas to Iraq.
After 2 lower back surgeries, I am too beat up to play anymore although I wish I could.

Roughly 30% of the American population support the war (far less than the nearly 80% who supported when we went but became cowards when it turned out not to be a video game), assume that 33% of the total population falls into a demographic that would be able to serve (age, physical ablity, etc). So what do you think happens when 30,000,000 Americans join the military to fight in a war that the congress has limited the size of the troop complement. The friggin country that they are protecting shuts down, if we all enlist.
And I don't believe that there is a single Conservative that believes supporting the war and the troops is as noble or patriotic as those kids over there fighting this fight. And I take exception to anyone that claims that.

Everyone has their own role to play.
Since we have an all volunteer military, I can understand if some patriotic people keep there jobs to keep this country moving while those who chose to enlist keep us alive.
Do we really need every single American to be in the military?
Who would send them packages?
Who would be here to greet them when they return?
Who would write them letters?
It's easy for you to go after all Republicans since you have agenda.
Did you factor in everyone that you know and love as un-patriotic for not serving?
Probably not.
Not everyone can be a patriot by going to war.
Some of us have to stay behind and make sure there is something worth coming back to.

No, of course it's not as patriotic as enlisting. But expecting everyone to follow everything they support to it's most direct conclusion is ridiculous.
I might just as well pose the question to liberals that, if they oppose the war so much, why aren't they donating every penny they have to anti-war movements? Do you really think every citizen against the war is doing every possible thing they can to discourage it? Has every single war-dissenter been to every possible protest in the country?
It's a stupid accusation.

they all do what they can, at the level they can comprehend.
Many arent capable of enlisting or dont want to
There are many ways they are patriotic, many are working in VA hospitals and many other programs that help people. So yes and no
I served because I thought it was the best way for me.

I can...there are other extuating circumstances that prevent people from up and joining the military. Last i did check no one put a gun to peoples heads to make them join, they did it all by themselves like adults do. yes, some may have done it for college money, but hey, its the military part of the job description is that if the country goes to war you will be shipped out to fight. I dont mean to be rude or anything but it is all voluntary. I have family in the military and one is stationed in bagdad so yes i support him and his fellow soldiers and i thank them for fighting! And i thank you too for fighting for your country!

I support the war and the troops. I do not fight and do not intend to fight, as I have a broken spine. Does that, in the view of the libs, mean I am not entitled to fully support the war??

I support the troops, I believe that they need to get the job done and come home, and I also enlisted. I served 6 years, the tail end of which was during Desert Shield. I was honorably discharged just before Desert Storm.

Thank you for your service. I do think it is important , if you are too old to serve, that you do not call our troops murderers, terrorists, and Nazi's as some of the Democratic leadership in Congress has done. I don't see that as constructive and you can support the troops in other ways than cheering for them, as I am sure, you well know.

In all fairness, there are people who are too old or unable to enlist because of a medical condition.
