I was at my locker at school singing Paramore "Born for this", song and this girl came up to me and said that I don't need to sing rock music because I don't look right singing it cause I am black.

It is absolutely OK for a black person to listen to rock music. Black people invented rock music. If you listen to early Beatles and Rolling Stones songs they are covers of black American rock - by great black artists. The Beatles and Stones are often credited with being the original rock musicians, but they were heavily influenced by black American rock music.

Of course today, there are more white people in rock and black people in rap. But it's cool to like whatever music you think is good music.

There's nothing wrong with a black person singing or liking rock music. Tina Turner and Jimi Hendrix are proof!

I'm african american, and I love Paramore. I sing Born For This all the time with my friends-white and black.
I also love AC/DC, Queen, Ozzy Osboune and lots of other heavy metal types of rock music.

You should have told that b*tch to mind her own f*cking business. Anybody with any knowledge of music knows that Black people have had huge contributions to rock. You could even argue that Black people helped create it. You see if it wasn't for the blues, none of this rock would be possible.

That's trash,!! African-Americans invented rock n' roll in the first place. I love rock music. Jimi Hendrix was black and he is a rock legend. Tell that girl to broaden her horizons there is a whole heap of ridiculously awesome music she is missing out on.

I just finished listening to Patience by Guns and Roses, More than words by Extreme, and I am black, I listen to what the F I want to when I want to. Nobody has a border around music so that you can't choose what you want. Anyway rock music was created by Black people, like jazz, blues, and hip hop. So your friend can do like Luda says and "Blow it out her a.ss"

The beautiful thing about music is it transcends color, religion, politics and culture. Rock On, it's great to hear you have an open mind and like good music.

You can listen to whatever music you like.

Any black person who makes a commetn like that to anotehr black person, in my eyes has some race issues that need to be thought about.

Does rock and roll make legends like Jimi Hendrix or Lenny Kravits and "less" black?

The amazing thing about music, is that you don't need to be a certain age, race, religion etc to listen to/ enjoy it... anyone who tries to tell you otherwise should go fu*k themselves with whatever implement they can find!!!
I'm sure this girl is the sort of meat sack that thinks Korn invented rap, and bullet for my valentine is a scary romance story!!!

Too many people are caught up on the stereotyping of races that it's so ridiculous....like what you want to like. Who cares what others think...some people need to get a life. that's just as bad as saying white people have no soul. I guess Robin Thicke doesn't look right either, huh...lmao (rolls eyes)
