My husband and I set a date (3 days away) and we both quit together, using the patch for the lst week. I also psyched my self up by thing about all the rotten things smoking does to you and how much I wanted to quit. With someone to talk that is going thru the same thing you, well I think the support helped, I haven't smoked in 6 years after smoking for 27 years.

I reminded myself that I no longer enjoyed smoking. Just thought I did. You don't enjoy cigarettes, you are simply getting relief from withdrawal. Say that to yourself; " I am an Addict craving a Fix."

Only older people still smoke. Also teenagers w Big Problems.A friend brought me a baby bottle and nipple to remind me of the psychology involved..

Incidentally, cigarettes don't smell like fine aromatic Turkish tobaccos anymore. Cigarettes smell like filthy socks when they are burning. You and your clothes, hair and house also smell like filthy socks. Smokers don't notice this but everyone else sure does.

I live in California. Smokers in this state have to go outdoors to smoke. They have been consigned to the alleys where they blow smoke at each other through their tar covered nostrils.

I used the gum for five weeks. Came off of it pretty easily because I was so high on myself I was floating!
I am also an alcoholic and quit drinking. I didn't answer your question just because I had nothing better to do. Need moral support from a 12-stepper sometime email me.

Best of luck. First 3-5 days kinda suck then it gets easier.

Yes, it's been a month smoke free for me. I just quit cold turkey. I was sick of smoking and that was what helped.

yeah, it's been about 3 weeks maybe. I kind of last track so I'm not for sure. I just quit cold turkey, but having people support me works great. I told the friends I hang out with the most to not offer me any and to not give me one if I ask and they actually listened to me. I have asked a couple times and nobody will give me one.

I wish it was as easy as everyone makes it sound, I quit when I got pregnant with my daughter, that was 21 years ago, I started again later, and just haven't been able to stop! I have tried some products, but it's something you have to want real bad, and right now I don't want to! I guess!!

Yes, 10 months now. I tried Nicoderm CQ but only stayed on it 4 days then one of the patches fell off and I thought I'd see how long I could go without it. I'm still going! I found some great sites too:
quitsmoking.com for support
whyquit.com for inspiration
Good luck!!!
