I have occasion maybe 2-3 times a month that I need to receive a fax. Every free fax service I find has a monthly charge. I have a fax machine/printer/scanner but can't get it to work with my computer/phone/voicemail therefore I was searching a stand alone provider. Didn't want to spend much just to receive 2-3 faxes, sometimes none, per month. Maybe I need to spend more time establishing the one I already have.

Bear in mind to send a fax tyoyu need their service to connect to a proper phone system, this costs money, so it will NEVER be a free service.

Howoever there is a definate lack of "prepay" services that allow you to send a few pages without having to pag $15 a month for it

It seems as though you need to figure out why your fax machine isn't working or seek out a friend who has a working fax machine. That is the only free service I can recommend, because if a company is in business they must charge something and they will. It is good that you have taken the time to read the fine print.
