You're going about it backwards. Most of us began because we were already sewing as a hobby, and people started offering us money for what we make. I would say just make what you enjoy, and when you get good enough at it, offer it for sale on a website.

Kids are great to sew for and embroidery on them is easy there so many kids patterns out there i do fine that keeping the right size you need is very hard so i pick infant to the size of 3 years old works great for me and keeps me busy i make girls and boys the boys are hard to keep up with for me hope this helps you some joannsewit@yahoo.com

You could start making children's clothes and put embroidery on them as I'm starting to do that and even my sister wants me to do embroidery on children's clothing for her business

You can embroider blank garments. Try www.babyjay.com for great blanks for babies and kids and then you can sell on ebay, etsy or your own website.
