because the world doesnt believe the dollar is worth much. We have a massive trade deficit. We owe a huge total debt. We deficit spend for years in a row. I wouldnt save dollars if I had a choice.

Because the value of the $ has decreased against other currencies.
Likely because of increased money supplies from the Fed in combination with increased worldwide national debt.
A weak dollar is not necessarily a bad thing, just as a strong dollar is not necessarily a good thing. (E.g. a weak dollar might be inflationary as it drives up the cost of imported goods, but it also makes US exported goods more competitively priced, thus increasing them).

I think I've made a case for why our money isn't worth spit any more. Our government is filled with the inept, stupid, rascals, crooks, money changers, ect who are cruel, arbitrary little monkeys grasping for all the bananas . Their goal is screw all of us into floor with fear of imaginary hobgoblins.
They have no talent for governing, only for holding office useing every underhanded dicpicable trick they can. We are of less concern to those in our government than the dog S on thier shoe!
