my husband and I bought a red couch back in may and are still trying to figure out what kind of pillows will go with it. I was thinking of black but he thought that it would take out the color of the couch if anyone has any Ideas please let me know.

it depends on what kind or shade of red you have; green complements red, but you will have to decide what kind of green to use, from deep sage or emerald green all the way to bold bright lime or chartreuse; chocolate browns, khaki, gray, punchy bright yellow, even pinks- all kinds of colors can work depending on how the shades and tones agree and contrast, and on what colors you want to pull into your room.

I would look around at the other colors in the room and chose a print that has the red and other room colors in it. Covering pillows is fairly easy and the fabric can also be used on other items in the room to tie it all together. Perhaps a beige or tan fabric with a red and other color print. Try to keep the colors to a max of three. Add accents to valances on the windows or tie backs would complete the look. Black may be a little harsh, if you want dark maybe chose a charcoal grey.

Go with something contrasting. It will bring out the beauty of the room and if the couch is a 'loud' red, so to speak, it will tame down the couch and make the room look more stylish. Lime green looks really nice with a red couch. I know you're probably wincing when you read that, but try it. It is really nice.

Black and brown will go good. Try to look around the room at the other colors used and base your decision off of the overall look. Even take different colored things (like shirts) that will be about the size of the pillows and put them where the pillow will go.

it depends on what else is in your house. i thought black is ideal, but white could do as well... you'l just hav to coordinate the pillows with everything else in the room. or maybe no pillows at all depending on the style of the couch. you could have vases, dry flowers, tables, balls, or any other accessories that compliment the red in the same room, you don't really have to have pillows... or you could just buy a nice throw and fold it cleverly over the couch... it depends on yo style really...

Well, if I knew the colour scheme of the room I could give you a better answer. But i think you should go with a neutral colour like cream, or white. make sure to keep them light because reds a very stand out colour, and light pilows with help balance it out. hope that helps.

A beigh or lighter down would look nice. Or a patterned pillow with beight or black accents.

I had jewel tones on my red suede couch. Purple, gold, hunter green, azure blue and some black & gold asian toile prints. They really make the couch look regal.
