My sister’s (she is also my best friend) divorce will be hopefully final at the beginning of 2008. She mentioned wanting to go to Vegas when it is final. Since I was her maid of honor when she was married she said she really wanted to go to Vegas for her bachelorette party but her fiancé thought that would be bad taste and asked me not to have it there. (But yet his bachelor party was in Vegas)

I’m asking for suggestions on invitations and people I should invite. I really don’t think it should be called a “divorce party” because the word divorce has such negative connotations.

My beautiful sister is happy these days now she has left this loveless marriage. I can see her growing spiritually and emotionally as the weeks/months go by. People are always saying to her how much more confident she is. So it’s not like she is crying because this marriage has ended she gave 100% to this marriage and their relationship of 11 years. So I’m super proud of her and she’s given her friend’s the strength to ask what they want in need in their own relationships.

Thank you for your suggestions.

You are right!! Call it anything but a divorce party. I refused to even call myself "divorced", choosing rather to be "single" - i did not want to be labeled by a past event, and only wanted to look forward!!

Celebrate a new beginning, a new chapter, LIFE!!
How about "all about (insert her name)" party!!

Call it her Freedom Party or Independance Day or you could mention something about a New Beginning. Only invite people who feel good about her decision for sure. Any good friends or family members who are willing to celebrate the beginning of her new life. A girl's weekend in Vegas could be a lot of fun.

I Poped the top on a Non-Alcohol bottle of chamiagne, got a ticket for that, (it was dropped), next ticket, createing a public nussanace, $35.00, but it was was worth it!! Got pic on the front page of Phx Gazzete, had a real bash that evening!! Good for your sister & you!! Ignore the X, he never was important!!

Your sister is entering a new chapter in her life, and the invitations to the party to celebrate the new chapter should reflect this.

A divorce should be the CELEBRATION of beginning anew!
If you want to go to Las Vegas, then go! She's not married, she free! free!! free!!! Ask all her friends and whatever family members (like you) who would enjoy the week-end.
