The windshield sun shields placed on the outside of the windshield does an excellent job of protecting the windshield from frost and sleet. Use the foil coated one with the foil facing outward. Close the car doors on each end to hold it snugly in place.

Prevent Windshield Frost

Used to put a trouble light in the car and crack the window a little to let the cord through but not enough that you could remove the light. I'd dangle it over the steering column and not let it touch anything. In the morning, the inside was nice and warm, and the windshield and all the other glass was clear.

If you don't want to do that, then put a blanket or plastic sheet over the windshield to keep the dew off of the glass.

It does work. good luck.

anything above the window, like an awning will prevent frost. You could put a beach towel over the window and shut the doors on it to hold it in place.
