LOL...I saw the "Star Spangled Banner" sung at the New York/Miami game played there on Sunday. I loved it. The UK citizens sat on their hands and listened to it!
As for your question, I'd never vote for anyone based on whether or not they are appreciated by a European country.

Most Brits like America but dislike Bush.
We think he's a bit of a buffoon tbh and really only got where he is due to his Daddy's influence. There seems to be a general consensus accross the world that his win was fixed (all the scandal of wrongly counted votes etc). Corruption Supreme. Most of us really dislike his war in Iraq which we feel was unfair and unjust. And we also hate the fact that Blair the Liar drew the UK into it and sent Our Boys over there (at the expense of the UK Taxpayer).
Now Hillary seems to be a really good choice. I'd like to see her in power in the USA. Bill Clinton is well liked over here.

I am English and was living and working in Florida in 2000 when Dubya 'won' the election. There was general outrage among friends and neighbours that the win was fixed. This incident coloured my opinion of Dubya. He led Britain into two illegal wars, Afghanistan and Iraq. His poodle, Tony Blair, accepted and acted upon a dodgy dossier to support his decision to join America in finding and destroying weapons of mass destruction. There were none. Bush proclaimed after Saddam was toppled, Mission Accomplished. Four years later Iraq is in chaos and even his generals are criticising his lack of an exit strategy.
I don't hate Bush. I just think he lacks world experience and is unbelievably naive

I spent a couple of months in England . . . mostly in the outskirts of London. They are rather hostile to GWB. However, they still say things like "I think Americans are wonderful people". Remember also that they have "hate Bush" crap all over their media as well . . . so just like here in the USA, non-thinking people find it easier to point fingers and place blame rather than analyze and think.

England is a country of smart people. They rejected conservatism in 1997 and still reject it. Would that we were as wise. Next year, we will be, and Bush will be a horrible memory as we return to glory -- and Gordon Brown will still be Prime Minister, but will no longer be the Leader of the Free World.

'England' does not hate or love anyone. There are English that feel either way but a country can not.
