depends on why you hate it? is it acting up a lot? have you just outgrown it? ( most people do rather quickly).
Harley had so many complaints about the old 883ci sportster, and sales dropped off on it so much that they stopped making is as of this year, Now, you can only get it in the 1200ci motor ( which was better anyway). But they are finding that more people prefer the dyna low rider etc than the sportster. I mean really, the sportster had two reason for being in the line up, one, for smaller statured people because HD bikes were mostly too big for women and smaller statured guys, and two, because it was the least expensive way for a new rider to get himself a "real" Harley.
With the new lineup of bikes, a woman, or a smaller statured guy can still a get bike with a bigger motor, a much much better ride than the sportster, a bigger fuel tank etc. So, it makes sense to out grow your sportster.
Make you a bad person? nope, just a smarter, more experienced rider.

nope, just an inexperienced rider ............ I ride mine cruising at 87 mph on the interstate almost everyday;jump it once a mnth off a 12" inch jump at 50 mph, have only been passed once in 10k miles by any other bikes on the road because most people spend $15k on a bike they dont know how to ride and get ran over trying to obey speed limit laws while people in their cars tailgate and try to kill them ; I'll keep the ten thousand dollars and test ride big bikes for free and ride my $5 thousand dollar Sportster any day

there are times i'd rather have a bigger bike, but when i get on a twisty road and throw it around and still get over 50 mpg.....that's when i change my mind; specially with gas prices hovering at or over 3 bucks a gallon. take it on a twisty road instead of the superslab. interstates suck anyway. 2 lane roads are an attitude.

Yes - you are a sinner.

For your penance, I request you watch "Wild Hogs" five times. That will make you appreciate your hog, and help you understand the person it can help you become.

Afterwards - you'll feel better and you'll be saying (in the words of the immortal William H. Macy), "I'm OK"

I gotta go now - I'm getting all teary eyed thinking about it....

I think it does! and certainly don't let your Sporty hear you talking this way.
You know a lot of Sporty's already have esteem issues with the "Girl Bike" rumors and all.
And please ,when you sell it, don't say you are getting rid of it because you hate it, just tell it you are taking it to visit a new family who is very interested in meeting it.

Nope, the question is why did you buy one? I knew long before purchasing my first Harley that I never wanted a Sporty.

no, if its too much power, step down to 250cc or 500cc cruiser (kawasaki or honda, for some strange reason HD does not make smaller bikes.) if not research some other bikes the same size or larger.

I think asking this question on Yahoo makes your judgment somewhat questionable... :)

Of course, my answering doesn't make me look swift either, does it...
