Yesterday, on televison, they showed the movie "Return To The Secret Garden." In this movie Mary and Collin had gotten married. Weren't their mothers twin sisters in the first movie? I thought Mary and Collen were 1st cousins?

Well.. hmm.. yeah.. I wouldn't have realized that.. but it wasn't uncommon for the time period. If you watch Pride and Prejudice (not sure if it made it into the newer version, but the BBC one with Collin Firth had it) Lizzie's cousin proposes marriage to her as well. Partly that was to keep the money and lands in the family.

Yes, but in Clueless I thought the couple was half brother and sister. This is Hollywood. They make mistakes.

That's correct, but during that time period it was ok to marry your cousin.
