I am not a Rockies fan but this guy has always been consistent, not huge numbers like A-Rod though...
I know he would have made it a better question if the Rockies had beat the Red Sox, but other than the obvious WS ring answer, what does Helton need to do to make it to the HOF? Or does he have no chance unless he wins a WS ring?

I know he was actually replaced by Peyton but I think relatively few people really know that unless they talked about it ad nauseum during the playoffs...

We haven't had a true player considered for the HOF that has played extensively for Colorado, so no one can say for sure yet about playing for Colorado being a negative on your HOF "application"...

Todd Helton will make the HOF if he continues on his course. A lifetime .332 in this day and age just carries too much weight. His power numbers have fallen off a bit, and he does play at Coors Feild, but .332 is .332, and Mel Ott made a HOF carrer out of having foul lines at 275 at the Polo grounds so I dont see that as that big of a hindrance. There has been a big surge in the "Ring" thing about HOF membership the last 10 yrs, but a great ball player is going whether he has one, none or a bunch. Gwynn didnt have any and it didnt slow his ascention and Ripken only had one. I am a huge Tennessee fan and watched Helton play QB on TV for the Vols. The starting QB for Tenn. got hurt in the first quarter against UCLA in 1994 and they stuck Helton in...He didint look very impressive and then they stuck in this 18 yr old kid named Manning which looked much better. They actually started Helton for a couple of games before Fulmer saw that there was a reason that Helton was an All American....baseball player lol.

For Helton to make it into the H O F. He needs to play for another team and continue to put up great numbers. If not Im sure playing so many years in Colorado will be held against him. So if he finish's his career as a Rockie- then NO HOF. If hes traded, there will be a chance.

He has a great career average and a good amount of home runs to go along with the average. The downside is his amount of hits. He only has 1800 or so, and he's going on his 12th season. If he can keep on hitting consistently for the next 6 years and build his career numbers to the 2500 hit area, then I think he'll have a great chance at the hall.

If he makes it, the first person he thanks should be Coors Field itself. A look at his career numbers:

Home - .367, .465, .663
Road - .295, .394, .502

Now, most players usually have splits that favor play at home, but those numbers are extreme. He's a decent player on the road, but a superstar only at a mile above sea level. Like Vinny Castilla, Larry Walker and Matt Holliday, his numbers should all come with a caveat.

Will he make it? He might, but he's not nearly as good as a first glance at his numbers might indicate.

At this time, no. He hasn't dominated his position. Right now, it's the era of the NL First Baseman and he's getting lost in the numbers, even though he has impressive stats.

Plan and simple, he's not marketable to the writers that will have to vote him in. He's going to have to WOW them with 600 HRs, .300 average and 3000 hits.

He sure is. He needs a little more, but judging by this season and the post season, yeah, I think he's got a better than even chance. If he retired right now, no. I don't see him NOT doing well for the next few seasons, though.

He may be better known as Peyton Manning's backup (QB) at Tennessee first...If he plays baseball long enough, maybe...
