People who don't wash themselves adequately produce unpleasant body odour from bacterial decay. If you are one of these you'll need to mask the odour with deodorising chemicals, But if you shower every day and are clean there's no need for you to use deodorants. I know which I'd prefer so if you're one of the latter group I think you may well be better than most people.
