For me, the most embarassing thing I did was in a speach. I was speaking in front of a school and instead of saying "I want to become a translator" I said I wanted to become a fiance. Simular words. Very embarrassing at the moment.

A long time ago when I lived in Fukushima city I spent all night drinking, then attempted to catch the first bus home to my apartment on the edge of town. I passed out on said bus and was awakened by the the driver at the end of the line which was out in the middle of nowhere.

Similar to the user plastic, I was trying to get to the airport in Osaka and I had two suitcases. I was trying to get on the subway and I couldn't get the heavy bags over the dang lip of the subway door, not to mention that there was a huge gap between the platform and the subway car. Everyone inside the car was staring at me while I tried to drag the things on. Funny, but two able bodied men got on after I did and didn't even help me! After a little while a lady got up and looked like she was going to help me, but by that time I managed to get the last suitcase on the subway.

Yeah, pretty embarrassing. I just hid in a corner and stared at the wall for the entire ride, which was less than 3 minutes anyway. Oh well, I was leaving, so I didn't care much after that! Hahaha.

Two things (or maybe 3 or more).

First there's a kid I saw crying alone in the park. I can't leave him crying there, bleeding a wound on his knee. I asked a Japanese officemate (to whom, i had a little crush), and when she spoke "naze", my tounge got twisted and only managed to say "I just called to say hi". What a whacko! After she dropped the phone, I just talked with the kid using sign language, since my Japanese is really bad, all I can understand is "itai" and I know he is in deep pain. I just went to a nearby grocery to buy band aids and ice cream since kids love them. He stopped crying and i cured his wound. though my ruined image didn't get any better as time pass by.

The other embarassing thing happened to me is on the subway station. I saw an old lady and a baby in a cart. She is having difficulty going down the stairs of subway, so I tried to help her. To my shock, she hit me with her walking stick shouting "sawaranaide, sawaranaide" (to which I looked in the net, means don't touch...). Again I have to use my little nihongo (since I learned a little by that time), like koko kara soko made (pointing at the lower level of stair), aka-chan wo then acting like carrying. good thing she understand and after that apologize to me like dozen. foolish isn't it... whenever I remember it, it just motivates me to learn NIhongo, also same case to the officemate.. though my image is already ruined... *sob*

1) You know how the subway stations in Japan has no elevators, and I was traveling alone then with a suitcase and lots of shopping bags and running late for my plane home, so I dragged my suitcase down the stairs creating a racket and I swear the japanese who crossed my path gave me a straight face.

Well, I didnt do this, but a friend of mine did, he had graduated from a college in Japan, and had to give a speech, and said, Japanese people are cheap, by accident. Instead of saying, yasashi, he said yasui, I don't know how he got those mixed up, but it was funny. hahaha.
