I had this couple that wanted to rent my duplex. They were a very well dressed spanish couple in their early 20's. They had been here from Mexico for 10 years & worked here, but did not have a Social Security number. They didn't have anyone that could guarantee the contract because they were not a resident of the U.S. I didn't have any choice but to have my real agent give them their deposit back they put down.
Would you have rented to them?

Did they have a temp number to show they are in the system and trying to get legal status? If not, then no way. Too much risk that they could damage the property and with no social you have no way to follow up with them. Plus we require a social from all rentors and thier co-signers so unless they have a valid alternative we can't legally rent to them anyway (same rules apply to all).

No because when it comes time for an eviction it would have cost much more money to get them out.
