What cleaning product can I use to return the shine to my hardwood floors? Everything I use (even vinegar and water) leaves a matte film look on the floors and streaks. Thanks.

It might not be what you use as much as how you clean the floors.

I use a generic disinfecting detergent (gallon bottle from Home Depot), with a concentration of about 1/2 cup per gallon of hot water. After sweeping/vacuuming all of the surface dust and stuff off the floor, I then get down on my hands and knees with a terry wash cloth, get the cloth wet in the detergent solution, wring it out, and then clean as much of an area as I can reach from that point.

When I've scrubbed the floor to the point where I know it's clean, I rinse the cloth out, wring it out really well, and use it to pick up the remaining water on the floor.

I then immediately use an old terry cloth towel to completely dry the area I just washed prior to going on to the next area. This removes any streaks, residue, or water spots that might get left behind by just letting the floor air dry.

I know it sounds like a lot of work - and it is. But, it's the best way to get a hardwood floor clean and shiny. You can do this once a month or so, and use a dry dustmop weekly (or whenever the dust and stuff build up).

Pledge has a new product for mopping hardwood floors.... works wonders. no smudges, streaks and leaves a great shine.
Plus it squirts from bottle. We have been pleased.

Be Blessed!
