I had the same problem with my 2001 Escape. Ford had a bulletin on this a few years ago. I had it serviced at the ford dealer and they also put an additive in . I have not had any more problems.

I can't believe even a Ford mechanic would send someone out on the road to test a shuddering transmission. They have crest test dummies that won't do this! Have the dealer test it under warranty. I suspect they are trying to make you go away.
Hint: Buy an older Chevy or a Nissan.

i have never heard of draining some fluid and driving it for a while to fix a shutter. it sounds like they are trying to make you ruining the transmittion so your claim will fall out of warrenty. This may be a matter for the better business beareu. the diagnostic for the transmittion should be done NOW, FOR FREE! the transmittion may be going bad if the shutter is constant at speeds above 45 mph. take care of this now before you get screwed out of a lot of money

It sounds like they're trying to make you go over that warranty. If your transmission has problems, changing the fluid a lot isn't going to fix it. What exactly does "shutter" mean? If it feels like it's actually moving, then it could be a mount.

If still on guarantee the dealer should test and fix. If the dealer you are working with gives you the runaround try another dealer or file a complaint with Ford. draining ever 300 miles is bogus.

In my opinion, there's only one thing to do now. That's have whatever Ford transmission service flush done they offer to solve the problem. If you do it yourself or go anywhere but to a Ford dealer, you'll weaken your negotiating position on your warranty claim. Do EXACTLY what the Ford dealer says to do and only do it at the Ford dealer.

You could try it. Have the dealer do the work. If it's under warranty, and you can demonstrate the problem to the dealer, they should cover the work under the warranty program.
If it doesn't fix it, insist that they fix the problem WELL BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. It sounds to me like they're trying to dodge fixing it under the warranty. If they give you any static or grief, ask for the district manager's name and phone #, and call him. Dealerships want the district manager to hear nothing but good things about them, and they will probably fix it before having you complain about them.

have the ford dealer run some diagnostics on it to see what it is. I just had my fusion in for some trans issues (intermittent hard shifting) they said to flush the trans but not 2 or 3 times, that will get exspensive. I would get the trans filter replaced and have the dealr flush the tranny i believe they charge 159.99. see if that helps. If not tell them!!

There's no way you should have to change tranny fluid every 300 miles.........Go to another dealer.
Good Luck!

TYPICAL FORD TRANSMISSION........................
THE DEALER IS TRYING TO PULL YOUR LEG, TAKE IT IN NOW AND TELL THEM TO FIX IT BEFORE YOU GO OUT OF WARRANTY.
