Hi everyone,

I'm starting to get concerned.
Normally I feel kicks anywhere from below my belly button to below my ribs.
I have just recently (last hour) been feeling kicks really really low down, never ever felt it so low. Its down towards my 'you know what'!
It feels so surreal, like its trying to kick its way out! Literally!

Is this just normal?

At 16 weeks I went into hospital and they discovered my cervix was open so was at risk of miscarriage or premature birth but ultrasonographer at 20 week scan said there was 'no funnelling' now, which I think meant its not open.

I'm so scared of premature birth at the mo and get scared at every little thing.

Its probably nothing to do with it but last night I had really strong period type pains, which i was worried about but soon put it to the back of my mind.

Am I just being stupid?!
Can anyone tell me if they know whats happening or if their baby kicks so low? xx

Take it from someone who knows, this is COMPLETELY NORMAL! I have had four babies already and currently 27 weeks with no. 5. Its not a nice feeling being kicked in the you know what but, please don't worry this is something I have experienced every time. Don't listen to idiots who don't know what they are talking about. If you are still worried then please ask your doc/ midwife they will put your mind at ease. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and good luck x

I am now 29 weeks and all of my kicking has been really low....like really low. My doctor said the baby is probably kicking my cervix, but since I haven't had any bleeding or discharge there wasn't anything to worry about. The baby has just found a sweet spot.

Since your cervix was closed at your ultrasound, you probably have nothing to worry about. I would give the doctor's office a call if you experience any spotting at all. If not tell him at your next appointment what your worried about. Given your history, and the cramping it might not be a bad idea to call ahead if your appointment isn't for a few weeks.

I'm sure everything is fine! And your not stupid to worry, just be warned...if your baby is like mine and doesn't want to flip...those little kicks in the cervix now will get really intense in the next few weeks. My little guy sometimes makes me gasp out loud!!

I would call your doctor about the cramping pain you had last night, but as far as the kicks really low, that's totally normal. As your baby changes position, his little legs end up pointing in all different directions. My little one is currently kicking me (or I guess he could be punching me) directly in my cervix :) I'm at 24 weeks and trying to keep teaching my high school English class without getting distracted by his little escape efforts! ;)

Congrats and don't worry, but do call your doctor about those cramps--you'll feel better having his/her reassurance!

First of all, you're not being stupid :) You're being a mother, worrying is what we do! I'm 21 weeks and the baby was doing that to me last night, I jokingly told my husband the same thing, that she was trying to kick her way out. It's TOTALLY normal, this is my second pregnancy and I remember the same thing with my first. The reality is the baby has been doing it to whole time, but it's just now strong enough for you to feel on the less-sensitive parts.

It's normal to feel some cramping, your uterus is stretching and doing all sorts of new things, and it's occasionally painful. As long as the pain has stopped now, then you're fine. So try not to worry (I know, easier said then done), but it sounds like everything is coming along just fine!

i'm 23 weeks pregnant too and my baby kicks all over. Sometimes it right by my belly button and sometimes really low, sometimes it's near the surface and sometimes I can feel it deep inside, it's just becasue they are small enough to move around at the moment so they change position often. As she/he grows you will notice that they kick in the same place more as they have less space. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. x

I am 18 weeks and this lil bugger has been ontop of my cervix since day one, most of my kicks or punches are very low, where as with my daughter they were always very high, it is where the baby is positioned and where they are most comfy I would try to relax.

Honey, if you are so scared; GET TO THE HOSPITAL
Better safe than sorry, I can't believe you're even on here asking. Go get checked out.
Chances are he/she is just hitting a nerve, or your feeling both feet and hands, etc...etc.... lots of things.
