Unfortunately yes! I put a sign on my gate every Halloween that says "Out at the moment at a Pagan festival dancing naked on the moors around a half lit fire"! Strangely enough the children never knock on my door trick or treating!

In Scotland, we call it 'guising' (it's a Celtic term). But yes, children still do go guising here although the number seems to drop every year, given parents don't like the idea of their kids wandering around at night. I think, these days, Halloween parties are more popular as kids can still have fun but do so safely.

Yes I take my kids trick or treating (or guising as we call it in Scotland). They are monitored and with an adult at all times unlike when i was a kid. Sign of the times I suppose.
I also get sweets and treats in for kids who knock my door. It annoys me when adults pretend not to be home at Halloween. It's ONE night per year and we should make and effort to ensure the kids enjoy it.

Sure. It's still a great thing for the kids. They have a fun time. I enjoy watching them and seeing the costumes. I remember how much fun I had when I was young.

I haven't seen any of it in my neighborhood in the five years I've been living here... it seems that most of it is a school-event.
I'm 44, and well past the age myself, but fondly remember growing up in a neighborhood where it was safe and fun.

Yes. Its much less pervasive than I remember when I was a wee lad, but kids still come to my door in my 'hood.

Every year we have over 200 kids come to our door ranging in age from babies to teenagers that are old enough to drive themselves to the store and buy their own stinking candy! :)

Yes, we teach our children all year long not to take candy from strangers. then once a year we take them door to door begging strangers for candy. tell me again? what is wrong with society and our childrens need for therapy so early on in life?
