I need someone who knows a lot about computers. I want to but a computer real soon. But there are some questions that I have to know the answers to before I do it. So here are my questions:

1. What computer would be the best to get?
2. What type of internet is the best?
3. how expensive is internet?
4. Will I pay the internet by how much I use it or is it a monthly bill of so much money?
5. I need to get a phone line for my internet. How do I do that?
6. About how expensive are computers?

If any of you computer experts could help me with these questions, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Any new or newer pc will do anything a beginner needs--if you get one with Windows vista make sure it has 1GB of ram(1024) or more.Cable internet is best, way faster than dial-up--dial up is 10 to 20 dollars a month--dsl in midrange in speed and price, about $30 a month--cable is very fast, and you wont need a phone line for it, about $50 a month. They all bill by the month, unlimited usage. You can buy a computer for about $400 on up,you wont need an expensive one unless you play graphics hungry games. I buy an inexpensive one then sell it in 2 years, then buy another inexpensive one--that way my pc never gets too old for new applications. Brand name doesnt matter to me either, every one I ever bought worked just fine.

1. When you get ready to buy go to several major retailers to look and touch. I am very pleased with what I see in the 15.4 screens, 160+Gig drives, 1G+ RAM and a dual core processor. Most run Vista Home Premium which is a little different but seems to work well.
2&3. Go to www.dslreports.com and there is a place to put in your zipcode to find providers and user comments for your area, as well as cost.
4. There are a few that charge by usage, but not many. Don't recommend them. Not a good value.
5. Depending on the service you get, some will use existing phone line and share the connection. Others share the cable system. If you want VOIP, check with the ISP for recommendations and research the company.
6. I have gone to all laptops because of the convenience and size. They run from $599 to $2999 depending on how high-end you go and what brand. Sony normally is higher because of the name.

depends what you want to do on it ...do you want it for gaming , videos and photo's?? or just doing work on? if you want for gaming and things like that i suggest a Mac and then you can always put on a windows operating system aswell.

What do you mean what type of internet? it depends on which service provider you go with!

DSL is probably going to be around $60 a month

You pay a set monthly price

You need a seperate phone line so the broadband can connect through that one so when you ring up the service provider they would probably recommend you one or have their own and make you pay a fee for installing it

Computers are more expensive the better they are, if you only want one for doing small things then you dont reallly need an expensive state of the art computer. obviously the better the processor, memory, software, etc etc the more its going to cost!!

you need to find out first what you want to do with the computer before you go looking for one that suits you
