Underrated. I wasn't a believer going into conference play after their early schedule, but they have played a brutal Big 12 road schedule, beating 3 quality opponents on the road. Winning in Boulder and College Station on consecutive weeks is impressive, but in national perception, they'll get more notice for beating Nebraska this Saturday than they did for either of those wins, even though the 'Huskers are a joke this year.

Over rated.
They don't have to play the best and 3rd best team in the Big 12: Oklahoma and Texas.
Lets look at Kansas and how they've done.
1st 4 games are cupcakes. Only one I was impressed with was the Kansas St. game. Texas A&M is ok but still not convinced with the Jayhawks. If they win out I'll be impressed but they're not a National Title contender.
-C.Michigan W 52-7
-SE Louisiana W 62-0
-Toledo W 45-13
-FIU W 55-3
-@ Kansas State W 30-24
-Baylor W 58-10
-@ Colorado W 19-14
-@ Texas A&M W 19-11

Under as a team, over for a coach.
Mangino almost cost them the CU and A&M games by giving up on the offense.
Still, the team manned up. Forget the soft schedule. Look at the three road wins: CU (don't forget they beat OU), K-State (Texas slayers AND rivalry game) and A&M (shut down a big-play offense in a very hostile environment).
Does it all come down to the Mizzou game? Nope. Win that and lose the Big12 title match, and the media jumps off the bandwagon fast: remember what happened when K-State went from #2 to Who Are You after losing their Big 12 Championship? From BCS to Matchbox Toy Car.Com Bowl?
The only way a traditionally crap football school gets respect is to run the table. KU goes 12-1 and I guarantee you there will be 4 or 5 teams with 3 losses in the SEC who will jump over them.

This win says alot. They can perform in hostile environments. They are definitely not top 5 material, but I see them as a legitimate top 10 team. Later in the year, they will be tested against Mizzou, another tough team. I see them winning. No matter how big he is, Mangino was a pretty good coach at OU. I'm sure he knows what he's doing.
If they get past Missouri then they have to play Oklahoma in the Big XII Championship. That's the ultimate test for them. I don't think they'll win though.

UNDERRATED! They almost shut out A&M. They have three big road wins in Conference. (I don't think any other team can say that!) They are the only team in the country ranked in the top 5 on both offense and defense. They have played a much tougher schedule than OSU or B.C. (B.C. is a TOTAL joke by the way). Kansas should really be #1 right now.

i would say they r right around where they should be, although i think they could be at 6 or 7 and deserve to be there. i dont think they get the respect from the nation that they deserve, its not like they r undefeated and playing in the MAC or something. they play in one of the big six conferences and still get treated as though they play in a low level conference. think about this, look at OU's schedule and compare it to KU's. the texas and k-state games equal themselves out because k-state beat texas. KU beat coloradoo at boulder, something OU failed to do. i know that miami pasted a&m but look at the two now and think that they are probably equals. and of course the non-conference schedules from both teams(excludng miami for ou) and they are somewhat similair. yet everyone thinks KU would not stand a chance against OU or mizzou. isnt that what everyone said about boise st against OU and florida vs ohio st. last year. KU deserves a little more respect than what they r getting

Underrated.
Going to Kyle Field and for the most part dominating the Aggies does say alot about their character.
I think the Mizzou game will probably be a make or break game for them.

people are overselling a&m.
kansas is good this year, but with a VERY favorable schedule. first four games this year were against very bad teams. colorado is a more impressive win than the aggie win.
last game of the season will be the one and only test as it is shaping up... versus missouri....!!!!!!!!!!!??????
