I would ask for legal advise. There are usually public defenders available and free legal advise given, I highly suggest he seeks that help for his legal matters!

depends where you live, really---in most sane jurisdictions less than an ounce is a slap on the wrist, with or without a lawyer. If there is any controversy over whether the search was legit, by all means use a lawyer. Otherwise he is probably better off just going in and pleading "no contest'.

Also, he can talk to the DA beforehand and ask if there is any way he can work it out so that this will come off his record, and the DA will probably offer him the same deal that he would offer him if he had a lawyer. Tell him to dress nicely, but not too nicely, call the judge "sir" or "maam" and to have a haircut, long sleeves if he is tattooed, no facial jewelry, look everyone in the eye, and act nervous. E-me for more advice if you like.

Hate to say it, but if he is white, it's a lot better. Black folks tend to get screwed in court more often---don't like it, but it's true. There are judges who don't like Asians and Mexicans, too, but black dudes get shafted regularly...but again, this is a pot charge---if it was coke or crank things would be a LOT worse...

Depends on where he lives. Podunk, Mississippi...I'd take a lawyer. San Francisco, California...I'm surprised he even has to go to court. Seems like a pretty minor offense. Tell him to be very respectful, deferential (lots of "yes sirs" and "no sirs") and don't say anything other than to answer specific questions he's asked. Wear a suit, be humble, keep your mouth shut. He'll probably get a small fine.

Depends what he is charged with. He is facing Jail time or other serious penalties. If so, then yes you should get a lawyer. If you do not know then you should at least consult one to find out where you stand. Note laws very from state to state so I would not take simple advice off this site.

nicely that's def too a lot to target to declare personal use in spite of the actuality that in the journey that they 1/2 it and take blame for a million.5 oz each and every its nonetheless alot. If its a universal offense they might bypass person-friendly its merely gonna be a case of waiting and seeing, which will be a discomfort im certain. it really relies upon on the decide, their previous habit & even how good the lawyer is.

If you're in Texas that's a misdemeanor. A lawyer is definately a good idea, expecially if this is his first offense. He'll be able to make some kind of deal with comminty service and may be able to keep it off his record if he's a juvenile.

He'd be much, much better off with a lawyer. If you're in the US, its his right to be represented by a lawyer. And the saying goes " the guy who represents himself has a fool for a client." is usually way too true.

In reality according to our constitution he should take a Milita because even being harassed for Marijuana should be cruel and unusual punishment. We had a constitution that would stop criminalizing the citizens for no good reason. Apparently the biggest crime in your brothers case is the law itself. Tell him get a lawyer no matter what state, a lawyer can get it dismissed!

If it is his first charge have him ask for a plea bargain like a 6 month deferred, and for him to promise not to get in trouble again, they will keep it off his record. That is only a misdemeanor anyway....

A lawyer will only take his money, this is not a huge deal, he should be able to cop a nice plea with the county/city attorney.
