The word" moment"implies a specific occurance in time.
It is Used in physics to describe the position's effect of a lever arm in the process of doing work(expanding energy).
A good example is the See saw. An adult can balance a little boy on the other end.
What happens in the see saw we have two lever arms.
The balance point of the lever arms is called the pivot or fulcrum.
The product of the weight (force ) and the lenght of the Lever arm is called the moment of the force. It the moments are equal the weights balance relative to the fulcrum..

In reality the product of a distance and a force is called energy. So a Moment of a force is really equal to Energy.

The terminology is used in structural engineering where calculation of weight on beams are required to determine the strengths of the supports.

moments is generally what they are called. A moment is a combination of forces which tends to cause objects to rotate or twist or bend.

Torque refers to a moment in a shaft (like the output from a motor).

i am 90% sure it is a force in a paticular direction measured in Newton Metres.
